Services - Surface Bond Preparation
Surface bond preparation is carried out by abrading the surface
with angular media.
The most commonly used media for this process is Aluminium Oxide
due to its hardness and fast cutting action although other medias can
be used such as glass grit or chilled iron grit.
Where a measured surface profile is required the depth of impact
can be measured and profile measurement reached that can be reproduced
every time.
For heavier profiles chilled iron grit is the most affective but
will cause surface contamination to non-ferrous materials. Lighter
profiles can be achieved using aluminium oxide, which comes in various
sizes. Virgin White Alumina is the purest of these and gives some of
the best results.
